On November 17, 2015 we had the pleasure of participating in the National Community Solar Summit and Sunshot Initative at the White House. The event included a number of excellent speakers including Congressman Rush (IL), Congressman Cardenas (CA), Deputy Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, Dan Utech, The Deputy Secretary of Energy, Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall, The Acting Deputy Administrator of EPA, Stan Meiberg, Deputy Assistant Secretary at HUD, Ben Metcalf, and The Director of the Rural Utilities Service, at USDA, Brandon McBride.
Our very own Scott Sarem also presented on how California is successfully implementing solar in low-income communities through MASH, AB 693, and other incentives and programs.
While the event on November 17th has ended, there is still more work to be done. The conversations will continue through upcoming calls and webinars and at 3 regional in-person meetings in 2016.
We will continue to advocate for solar programs that benefit affordable housing communities and will update you on how these programs will impact you.
